MAD CITY FRITES POUTINE AND TEDDYWEDGERS
So yesterday I got a new assignment from Carolyn, art director at Isthmus. This time I had two stops. Both very conveniently located with three blocks on State Street. I put Teddywedgers and Mad City Frites on my stop list.
After a nice 30minutes winter walk I meet Anthony from Teddywedgers. Fella is 22 years old and fella owns the place. Apparently he recently bought it from previous owner who was looking to retire and was selling the place. I am taking pictures around the small room, peak into oven where the wedgers are being baked. Anthony tells me he always wanted to own a food place. and Now Anthony owns premium “stop and go” spot in flatiron building just where the State street meets the Capitol Square. Boom!
My next stop is Mad City Frites. Poutine is what I need to photograph there. It’s Tuesday and they open at 11:30am. At 11:31am I am standing and chatting with Taylor B. She’s the owner. Taylor tells me she’s originally from Madison, WI. I would guess she’s probably a bit older than Anthony, but not by much. Taylor’s vision for Mad City Frites came after visiting Pommes Frites in NYC. Taylor started working on her restaurant business plan while at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. After school she came to Madison, WI. In December 2014 Mad City Frites opened its door for the first time. Boom!
At the writing of this post (article in Isthmus with the images will be published in 10 days only) I am not sure what the author will be talking about. But I hope it will be about young and ambitious people that add extra flavor to your plate in Madison food scene.
This food assignment was shot with my Fuji X-Pro1 and Fujinon XF23mmF1.4 R and Fujinon XF35mmF1.4 R lenses.
