DO YOU OFFER A CLOTHING CONSULTATION BEFORE THE HEADSHOT SESSION?
Yes. We can go over outfit ideas in advance, either in person or by email. You can send me photos of what you’re thinking, and I’ll give feedback based on your profession, audience, and brand colors. The right outfit can set the tone for your entire business headshot.
DO I NEED TO GET A HAIRCUT BEFORE MY HEADSHOT SESSION?
It’s a good idea if you’re due for one. Schedule it with a stylist you trust, ideally a week before the shoot. That way it looks fresh but still natural. Avoid big changes right before the session unless you’re sure about them.
SHOULD I WEAR MAKEUP FOR MY BUSINESS HEADSHOT?

For individual sessions in my studio, a makeup artist typically starts at $250.
Normally I recommend arranging your own makeup. It keeps scheduling simple and lets you work with someone you already know and trust. If you need recommendations, I can connect you with local artists who do excellent work for headshots.
SHOULD I BRING ANY ACCESSORIES TO MY BUSINESS HEADSHOT SESSION?
Accessories are a great way to add personality and style to your headshot. Items like glasses, hats, necklaces, or earrings can show a bit of who you are. If you’re not sure what will work best, bring a few options and we can test them out during the session.
WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE MY BUSINESS HEADSHOT SESSION?
Life happens. You’ll get confirmation and reminder emails with links to cancel or reschedule if needed. If something urgent comes up, just let me know as soon as possible so we can find another time.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I NORMALLY WEAR GLASSES?
If you wear prescription glasses for vision, bring them. If you have more than one pair, bring those too – sometimes one style looks/ avoids reflections better. We can adjust angles and lighting to reduce glare. I usually don’t photograph people in reading glasses, since they’re not part of your everyday look.
CAN YOU PHOTOGRAPH MORE THAN ONE LOOK/OUTFIT IN A SINGLE SESSION?

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN INDOOR AND OUTDOOR BUSINESS HEADSHOT SESSION?
Indoor sessions give us complete control over lighting, background, and comfort – no weather surprises, shifting light, or unexpected interruptions. This means a smoother experience, consistent results, and no need to reschedule.
Outdoor sessions can work for a casual or lifestyle feel, but they’re far more dependent on weather, time of day, and location conditions. That unpredictability can lead to delays or changes. For most business headshots, the studio is the safest way to ensure your images turn out exactly as planned.
CAN YOU DO BUSINESS HEADSHOTS AT MY PLACE OF BUSINESS?
Yes. I can bring my portable studio with professional lighting and backdrops to your office. For smaller groups or individuals, it’s often more cost-effective to come to my studio. For larger groups (5 and above) on-location photo session makes more sense, as the travel fee for moving equipment and lighting becomes more efficient.
WHAT KIND OF BACKGROUND OPTIONS DO YOU OFFER FOR BUSINESS HEADSHOTS?
In my studio, you can choose from a range of background colors and styles- from simple, neutral tones to bold colors that pop. Yes. I’ll guide you through poses that look natural and professional- from where to put your hands to how to angle your shoulders. We’ll also work on expressions, discussing what works best for your personality and professional image. As we shoot, we’ll review images in real time so we can see what’s working, make adjustments, and ensure you leave with business headshots you’re excited about.
DO YOU SHOW ME THE PHOTOS DURING THE SESSION?
Yes – I use tethered shooting, which means your photos appear instantly on a larger screen as we go. You’ll see exactly how you look, spot your favorite angles, and feel confident you’re getting the shots you want. It also makes it easier to fine-tune details like posture, hair, or accessories in real time. Many clients say this makes the process feel more collaborative, fun, and stress-free.
HOW LONG DOES THE BUSINESS HEADSHOT SESSION LAST?
Most sessions last about 45 minutes to an hour. That gives us time to settle in, try a few looks, and capture the best shots without feeling rushed. Whenever possible, it’s a good idea to build in a little extra buffer time before and after your session. That way, if you’re running late or something unexpected comes up, we can still work comfortably and keep the experience stress-free. Larger sessions with more outfits or backgrounds may take longer.
CAN WE DO MULTIPLE BACKGROUNDS OR LIGHTING SETUPS IN ONE SESSION?
Absolutely. Changing backgrounds or lighting can give you a variety of looks- perfect for LinkedIn, your website, speaking events, or other opportunities that pop up later. Sometimes the photo you thought was “just for LinkedIn” ends up being too tight for a conference program or doesn’t fit the tone of a specific event. Having a mix of head-and-shoulders shots, wider crops, lighter expressions, and more serious looks gives you options for any situation. SHOULD I SMILE IN MY BUSINESS HEADSHOT?
It depends on your personality. Some people naturally smile more, others less- and that’s okay. In my professional opinion, a great headshot is less about the size of your smile and more about your engagement. Engagement comes through your eyes- looking ready to step into a conversation with the viewer. We’ll focus on capturing that connection, whether you’re smiling or not.
DO YOU HAVE A CHANGING ROOM AT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO?
Yes. There’s a private changing space so you can switch outfits, freshen up, and store your belongings during the session.
SHOULD I BRING MY OWN MAKEUP OR HAIR PRODUCTS TO THE SESSION?
Yes. While I keep the studio stocked with basic items, I recommend bringing your own makeup, brushes, hairspray, and any styling products you normally use. This way, you know exactly what works for your skin and hair, and you’ll have everything you need for quick touch-ups between looks. It also helps keep the flow of the session smooth and efficient.

WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE MY INDIVIDUAL BUSINESS HEADSHOTS?
If you’re not satisfied with the service or don’t like the proofed images from your individual headshot session, it’s completely free of charge. This is why individual sessions last 45–90 minutes or longer. We take the time to fine-tune every detail: posture, hair, lighting, expressions, and more.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY PROOFS?
You’ll receive your online proof gallery within 2 days of your session. This lets you review all the images and choose your favorites for final retouching.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY FINAL RETOUCHED BUSINESS HEADSHOTS?
Once you’ve made your final selections, retouched images are delivered within 7 days. Higher-tier packages are turned around faster – usually within 2-4 days.
WHAT LICENSING AND USAGE RIGHTS ARE INCLUDED?
Standard headshot packages include licensing for common professional uses- like LinkedIn, your business website, online profiles, press releases, and printed materials such as business cards.
Commercial uses (such as book covers, billboard ads, or large-scale advertising) are not included and might require a separate discussion and licensing agreement.
DO YOU CROP THE FINAL IMAGES?
Usually I don’t. I deliver them uncropped so you have maximum flexibility later. A tight crop might look great for LinkedIn picture now, but if you need a wider version for a speaking event program, you’ll be glad you have the original framing.
CAN I ORDER ADDITIONAL RETOUCHING LATER?

HOW ARE FINAL IMAGES DELIVERED?
I deliver your professional headshots via Dropbox, WeTransfer or other cloud-based delivery service. This allows you receive images (and share images with others if needed) via the secure download link.
HOW LONG WILL YOU KEEP MY PHOTOS?
Your final photos are available for download for one month after delivery. After that, they’re moved into long-term archives and may not be easily accessible. For that reason, I recommend downloading and safely backing up your images right away.
